One of the most-used phrases in Agile is, “Let’s be Agile, not just “Do Agile.”
But what does that really mean for us in this new WFH era courtesy of Covid-19?
While Agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban have traditionally been thought of as an “IT thing,” the three pillars that support any Agile adoption—transparency, inspection, adaption—are relevant to any business.
Let’s go back to basics for a minute to explore the three pillars of Agile from the lens of our new norm—the WFH norm.
Whether we are working on something as an individual or as part of a team, we need transparency in our work. There are a number of things we can use here to create transparency:
- Use personal task boards or personal Kanban boards that are visible to your team members
- Create team boards with tools such as Trello, Asana, etc.
- Have regular check-ins with your team—Braintrust has
- Schedule a weekly, bimonthly, or monthly call with your Stakeholders or customers if you’re working on building a product or service
Inspection and adaption
With these two pillars, we can look at the current product/service/process and identify how we can improve it.
