Product Owner Essentials is a one-day essentials for Business Analysts and Product Owners and anyone who will be involved with the Product Backlog. The course focuses on the responsibilities of the Product Owner and how they create and manage their backlog. This is a very hands-on course and features many exercises that solidify key course concepts. Whenever possible real-world examples are brought in from the course participants work in order to jumpstart their next Agile project.

  1. I want to describe the Scrum framework, so that I can clearly comprehend the Scrum process.

  3. I want to select a product, so that I can have a real-world example to base the class exercises on.
  4. I want to explain the five levels of planning in Scrum, so that I can improve the overall effectiveness of
    our product delivery.
  5. I want to demonstrate developing a Vision Statement, so that I can provide a guiding light for the
    product.
  6. I want to demonstrate how to model roles and personas, so that I can ensure my stories are targeting
    the most valuable use cases.
  7. I want to explore ways to refine the product backlog, so that I can create roadmaps for my product roll
    out.
  8. I want to explain the purpose of a backlog and user stories, so that I can focus the team on the highest
    customer value.
  9. I want to explain key elements of a good user story, so that I can create a better product backlog.
  10. I want to learn techniques to split stories into smaller ones, so that I can create stories that are
    completed in a short period of time.
  11. I want to list several ways to prioritize my product backlog, so that I can determine what is the best
    approach for the situation at hand
